Blog under the cut, recipe up top!

This recipe is: cheap, gluten free (if made with gluten free oats), suitable for batch-cooking, nightshade free.

2 tbsp vegetable oil
8 tbsp chocolate & hazelnut spread
300g porridge oats

  1. Preheat oven to 160°C
  2. Melt the nutella in a large bowl in the microwave (approx 40 seconds)
  3. Stir in the oil
  4. Add the oats to the bowl and stir around till they’re coated, or mostly
  5. Bake for 15-20 min and then leave to cool before crumbling it up as required

If you wanted to scale up to a 400g jar of nutella(/equivalent), the proportions would be: 1 jar, 175ml oil & 1.5kg oats.

This recipe was inspired by Jack Monroe’s 8p PB&J granola. Except I don’t like peanut butter, but I do like nutella! Which, if you think about it, is sort of a nut butter…

This is a perfect 2am snack, which is when I’m writing this post, because it’s nutella-based, but also has oats to keep you going! I get insomnia quite a lot and have noticed my mood drops substantially if I don’t keep my body fuelled when I’m awake for longer than expected. Look after yourselves, gang.
